Africa Energy Indaba 2024

GOGLA’s Head of Policy and Regional Strategy, Patrick Tonui is attending the 16th annual Africa Energy Indaba March 5-7 2024 in Capetown, South Africa. He will be joined by Patricia Njeri, GOGLA’s Membership Engagement Manager, and Linda Yunia, Investment Readiness Manager at GOGLA. 

The Africa Energy Indaba is the definitive energy conference for Africa providing an annual program that shapes energy policy for the African continent. The Africa Energy Indaba Conference will discuss, debate and seek solutions to enable adequate energy generation across the continent. GOGLA will have an exhibition stand at this event and is looking forward to engaging with the industry.

Patrick Tonui will be part of the session Distributed Renewable Energy: Investing in a Clean Energy Transition That Leaves No One Behind on 6 March at 11:00.  This session will elaborate why DRE matters for a) a just transition for all, b) green growth and c) climate resilience and how to fully integrate DRE solutions in Africa’s energy mix. The speakers will highlight the need to create the right foundations for the activate the private sector in reaching the poorest and most climate vulnerable and how best to design, pilot and deploy new business models / financing mechanisms that make DRE offerings more attractive to the poorest/most vulnerable communities.
