Webinar: Advancing Productive use of Renewable Energy Solutions in Northeast India

June 14, 12:30 to 13:30 CET

Clean Energy Access Network (CLEAN) and GOGLA are hosting a public webinar Advancing Productive Use of Renewable Energy Solutions in North East India.

The North Eastern Region (NER) of India, comprising states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura, faces significant challenges in energy infrastructure development due to its rugged terrain, dispersed population, and frequent natural disasters. These geographical and logistical hurdles make extending centralised power grids and fuel supply chains difficult and expensive. Decentralised Renewable Energy (DRE) systems present a viable solution, directly providing reliable and sustainable energy to remote and scattered communities. DRE can enhance energy security, help improve the reliability of civic and welfare services such as health and education, and improve livelihoods and the local economy by boosting agricultural productivity, powering small and medium-sized enterprises, and supporting local industries such as handicrafts and weaving.

Additionally, DRE solutions contribute to environmental sustainability by reducing reliance on fossil fuels, thus preserving the region’s rich biodiversity and mitigating climate change.

This and a few future webinars will explore these aspects, presenting successful case studies and fostering dialogue among stakeholders
to accelerate the productive use of DRE in the NER.

If you are a GOGLA member planning to attend the event, please don’t hesitate to reach out and stay tuned to our social media channels for the latest updates.
